On a cold and grey Chicago mornin'
A poor little baby child is born

Then one night in desperation
a young man breaks away
he buys a gun, steals a car,
tries to run, but he don't get far
And his mama cries
As a crowd gathers 'round an angry young man
face down on the street with a gun in his hand

As her young man dies,

un pauvre petit bébé vient au monde

Les années passent
et un petit garçon avec un nez qui coule
joue dans la rue alors que le vent glacial souffle

et il commence à trainer dans la rue la nuit
et il apprend à voler
et il apprend à se battre

et puis un soir de désespoir
un jeune homme s'échappe
il achète un pistolet, vole une voiture,
essaye de s'enfuir, mais il ne va pas très loin
Et sa maman pleure
Au moment ou la foule s'attroupe autour d'un jeune homme en colère
le visage à terre, un pistolet à la main

et comme son jeune homme (fils) meurt
